COVID-19 Policy
The Sullivan County Department of Archives and Tourism – Serving the citizens of Sullivan County and other areas of the U.S. is an honor and a responsibility that we take very seriously. Our office seeks to provide the excellent customer service that all citizens deserve. Due to concerns surrounding the Coronavirus (COVID-19), and out of an abundance of caution for the health and well-being of our staff, volunteers, and visitors, the offices of the Sullivan County Department of Archives and Tourism will be temporarily closed to the general public until April 6.
This will include the main office located at 3425 Hwy. 126, Blountville, and the Sullivan County Heritage Tourism Information Center located at 1575 Hwy. 394 in Blountville. Staff members will continue to work onsite at the main office and will respond to all general information inquiries, records inquiries and tourism questions; you may reach a staff member by calling (423) 323-4660 or by emailing to info@sullivancountytn.gov.
The Old Deery Inn and Community Center will also cease operations until May.
Thanks for your patience and understanding as we continue to work through this situation and strive to make Sullivan County an even safer place to live. Please be safe and stay well. We do feel confident that Sullivan County is resilient, and that we will remain strong alongside all other Tennessee counties as each of our communities continue working together in a spirit of hope and resolve into Spring and Summer of 2020.

Responsibilities of Archives and Tourism
At the Sullivan County Department of Archives and Tourism, our primary focus is on preservation of Sullivan County’s historic governmental records while showcasing the history and attractions, both old and new, in our area.
Responsibilities of Archives and Tourism
Patrick Henry once said, “I know of no way of judging the future but by the past.” Preserving our historic documents and buildings is closest to the very heart of the Sullivan County Department of Archives and Tourism, as it brings us a better understanding of who we are today. Without our historic documents and the beautiful historic sites in Sullivan County, we would often be reminded of ancestors whose names were long since forgotten and of homeplaces lost in time. Please visit beautiful Northeast Tennessee and enjoy our Sunnyside Trail! We invite you to join us in our quest as we preserve the past, share our heritage, and showcase the beautiful attractions in Sullivan County, Tennessee, truly “a Museum of Masterpieces, both old and new”.
