Responsibilities of EMA

Our mission is to serve the citizens, cities, and communities of Sullivan County through effective planning for natural and man-made disasters by coordinating an integrated emergency management system with all emergency response organizations, support services and volunteers.

Our primary goal is to prepare and educate our county’s citizens and to utilize resources and plans to help our county respond to and recover from any disaster using the four phases of successful Emergency Management: mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery.

The Sullivan County Local Emergency Preparedness Council is made up of representatives from all aspects of the community to include: Elected Officials, Emergency Management, Fire Department, Law Enforcement, Public Health, Hospitals, Red Cross, Industry and Facility Representatives, Local Community and Civic Organizations, Schools, Local Media, and Transportation Agencies just to name a few.

The Sullivan County LEPC meets every month (except December) on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 7:30 am at the EMA office at 3193 Hwy 126 Blountville, TN 37617.

The ByLaws of the committee are listed below as a pdf file.
