Responsibilities of the Solid Waste Department

The Sullivan County Solid Waste Department is dedicated to providing efficient and environmentally responsible waste management services for residents across the county. Operating multiple convenience centers and transfer stations, the department facilitates the proper disposal of household waste, recyclables, and select hazardous materials.Through these efforts, Sullivan County promotes public health, environmental stewardship, and sustainability for the community.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Where do I dispose of old appliances, computers, etc.?

-The transfer stations located in Kingsport and Bristol.

What is accepted at the recycling centers?

Mixed paper, cardboard, aluminum cans, tin cans, etc. Please check with the solid waste department to confirm any other items.
