Sullivan County Chancery Court COVID-19 Policy

On March 13, 2020, the Tennessee Supreme Court entered an Order Suspending In-Person Court Proceedings in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.  This Order applies to any in-person court proceedings in municipal, juvenile, general sessions, trial and appellate courts subject to several exceptions outlined in the Order.  These exceptions include, but are not limited to, emergency proceedings or proceedings involving orders of protection.  Any questions about whether one of the exceptions applies to a particular case can be directed to the clerk’s office or to the party’s attorney.  Additionally, a complete copy of the Order can be viewed on Chancery Court’s website, www.sullivantnchancery.com.

At this time Chancery Court is open as usual, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. until further notice.  We are encouraging the public to utilize our website to lookup delinquent taxes and make delinquent tax payments online or over the phone.  We are also encouraging litigants to file their pleadings by email or fax rather than in person.  We are attempting to limit, as much as possible, contact that the staff has with the public in an effort to protect the employees and the residents of Sullivan County.

If at a later date it becomes necessary to make any adjustments to our policy we will post all information related to changes in our policy on our website, www.sullivantnchancery.com.
